Oviedo Community Earn Mental Health First Aid Certification Through Orlando Health Training

On May 16, 2026, six members of Oviedo Citizens in Action and four community members completed the Adult Mental Health First Aid certification course. The training, led by Tracey and Anushka from Orlando Health, was held at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
Adult Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based program that teaches participants how to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, respond appropriately to mental health crises, and provide initial support until professional help can be obtained. Upon successful completion of the course, all participants earned Mental Health First Aid certification, good for three years.
This training directly supports OCIA's mission to "educate and empower individuals to become informed, active participants of the community." By gaining practical skills to identify mental health concerns, reduce stigma, connect individuals with resources, and assist those experiencing mental health challenges, participants have strengthened their ability to serve and support the Oviedo community.
OCIA is grateful to Orlando Health for partnering to provide this valuable educational opportunity and helping build a more informed, compassionate, and resilient community.
